Ask anyone who’s been in one of our annual Plays-in-the-Park and they’ll tell you it’s a very enjoyable experience. Kids and their families come from far and wide to sit on the grass in the sun for just under an hour and immerse themselves in a world of fantasy.Being outdoors, it calls for loud, bold and energetic acting (though you’ll wear a mic so you won’t have to shout). If the weather’s uncooperative, we adjourn to Cochran Hall, and that works well too.
The play:
Sam is an ordinary man who wears an ordinary suit and works in an ordinary office. But extraordinarily, his mother is a retired pirate who yearns to see the sea again.
A wonderful and madcap adventure ensues as they travel to the sea, with a bit of singing and much audience involvement along the way.
The roles:
Roles can be played by any gender and ages are flexible. There is also the potential for roles to be doubled up.
Rehearsals start: Sunday 17 November 2024. Last rehearsal before summer break: Sunday 15 December 2024. Rehearsals resume: Sunday 12 January 2025.
Season: 15, 16, 22 and 23 February, at 1.30 and 3.30 pm each day
