THE LITTLE MERMAIDDIRECTED BY ANN FERGUSON, MUSIC DIRECTED BY TOM BAROCO, CHOREOGRAPHED BY JUSTIN GAYLARD
Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

ABOUT AUDITIONS:
Please prepare 60-90 seconds of a Disney or Disney-style song. You may choose a song from The Little Mermaid if you wish. Bring sheet music marked for accompaniment. If you use your phone for accompaniment/karaoke tracks, you may plug into our speaker, or bring your own. Choose a song that enhances and shows off your singing skills. You will take part in movement or dance auditions, where the choreographer will ask you to learn a few steps, so wear shoes you can dance in. Please no a capella auditions.
*Within the ensemble, we need 3-5 seagulls who can tap dance. All auditionees will do a movement audition, but those with tap experience who want to be considered for a seagull or SCUTTLE will have a separate tap audition at the end of audition night. Please plan to stay and bring your tap shoes.

LOOKING FOR:
ARIEL (Female, 20’s) A mermaid and King Triton's youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kind-hearted. Vocal Range: Ab3 to Gb5

PRINCE ERIC (Male, 20’s) A human monarch who has no interest in taking the crown. A handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more. Vocal Range: B2 to G4

SEBASTIAN (Any Gender, Black, 20’s to 40’s) Jamaican Accent. A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can't bring himself to stand in Ariel's way. Vocal Range: Bb2 to C5
SCUTTLE (Any Gender, 20’s to 40’s) Comedian, Must be able to Tap Dance - *see note about tap audition. A disheveled seagull and expert in human artifacts. Loudmouthed, optimistic, and a bit ignorant, despite his supposed expertise. Vocal Range: C3 to G4
GRIMSBY (Male, 30’s to 60’s) Prince Eric's British guardian. Droll, stuffy, and constantly urging Eric towards his royal duties, specifically marriage. Vocal Range: C3 to C4
URSALA (Female, 30’s to 50’s) Alto/Low Mezzo The banished Sea Witch and sister of King Triton. Supposedly spurned at childhood, she will use whatever method necessary to steal the kingdom and claim it as her own. Malevolent, calculating, and deceptive. Vocal Range: Eb3 to C5
KING TRITON (Male, 30’s to 50’s) Baritone King of the Sea and Ariel's father. Beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks a harried single father who will do anything to protect his daughters. The death of his wife has also given him an irrational fear of humans. Vocal Range: Ab2 to F4
FLOUNDER (Any gender, 10-15) A fish and smitten with Ariel, his best friend. Rambunctious but cautious, fearful of the dangers that lurk in and above the water. Vocal Range A2 to G4
FLOTSAM (Any gender, teens to 30’s) An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear. Vocal Range: E3 to C5
JETSAM (Any gender, teens to 30’s) An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear. Vocal Range: B2 to A4
CHEF LOUIS/ENSEMBLE (Any gender, 20’s to 50’s) French Accent. The French palace chef, diabolical and violent. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for blades, seafood in particular. Vocal Range B2 to A4
THE 6 MERSISTERS/ENSEMBLE: AQUATA, ANDRINA, ARISTA, ATINA, ADELLA, ALLANA (Female, teens to 20’s) Ariel’s Sisters
ENSEMBLE: (all genders, 10’s to 60’s) Seeking actors/singers/dancers to play various roles within the ensemble. Sea Creatures, Animals, Courtiers, Chefs, Sailors, Gulls, Maids, Princesses, etc. You will be busy with multiple characters and large dance numbers. (All levels of dance welcome, including movers) Minor roles within the ensemble will be assigned after casting.
