ABOUT THE SHOW:
“Nunsense” is a musical comedy about the Little Sisters of Hoboken, who are staging a variety show to raise money to bury 52 of their sisters accidently poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia (Child of God). With only enough funds for some of the burials, the remaining nuns put on a chaotic talent show to cover the costs and get their deceased sisters out of the convent freezer. Featuring songs, dances, and audience interaction, “Nunsense” is a habit-forming good time!
AUDITION DATES:
Sunday, February 15: 3pm - 5pm
Monday, February 16: 7pm - 9pm
(You only need to attend one of the audition dates!)
AUDITION INFO:
We are looking for proficient singers with comedic timing to fill 5 adult female roles. Any choreography will be simple and does not require experienced dancers.
Be prepared to sing a song of your choice in the same genre of the show. Please bring sheet music. An accompanist will be provided.
Please DO NOT use canned/recorded music, prepare an a cappella piece, or use songs from the show.
At the audition: We will teach a song from the show and a short dance. Cold readings will be done from the script.
Auditions are open and all are welcome! No appointment needed.
ALL ROLES AVAILABLE:
- SISTER MARY REGINA, MOTHER SUPERIOR: Female, 60’s (Range: B3-F5)
A feisty Sophie Tucker-type who can't resist the spotlight.
- SISTER MARY HUBERT, MISTRESS OF NOVICES: Female, mid 50’s (Range: G3-F5)
The second in command, she is always competing with the Mother Superior.
- SISTER ROBERT ANNE: Female, Mid 30’s (Range: G3-D5)
A streetwise taught character from Brooklyn. A constant source of aggravation for the Mother Superior.
- SISTER MARY AMNESIA: Female, Late 30’s (Range: Db4-C6)
This nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head. She is very sweet.
- SISTER MARY LEO: Female, Early/Mid 30’s (Range: G#3-G5)
The novice, who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina.
