Abilene Community Theatre invites you to audition for Not Now Darling by Ray Cooney and John Chapman, directed by Gary Varner.............................................................................................................
Not Now, Darling is a madcap British farce about mistresses and luxurious coats set in the exclusive London boutique of Bodley and Crouch, where junior partner Arnold Crouch (the well-meaning innocent) struggles to keep things on an even keel despite the energetic philandering of his partner. At the moment, Gilbert Bodley is trying to secure the affections of his latest would-be mistress by "selling" her husband a particularly expensive mink fur coat for a fraction of its cost, and the stammering Crouch is saddled with the task of consummating the sale with a straight face. But, as luck would have it, the husband seizes the bargain coat as the perfect gift for his own mistress – whereupon the fur really flies, with poor Crouch caught in the middle. Soon you have husbands, lovers, suspicious wives and gorgeous girls wearing nothing but their modest underwear entangled in this plot filled with mistaken identities, scantily-clad ladies hiding in closets, mobsters and misguided shoppers. Filled with fun and frolic, the action of the play bubbles along merrily right up to the final curtain when, miraculously and to the great relief of all concerned, everyone gets their just desserts.
The only changes we will be making are placing the show in the late 1940s in New York.

Auditions will be held in ACT 11 on Monday April 7th and Tuesday April 8th at 7:00 pm and will consist of cold readings from the script. No acting experience necessary! Please bring any scheduling conflicts to the audition.
