The Contemporary Theater Company is holding auditions for our summer production of Into the Woods:
Sunday, March 8 from 10 am - 3 pm
Wednesday, March 11 from 6 pm - 9 pm
Callbacks Sunday, March 15 from 11 am - 3 pm
Performances:
Previews June 26 - June 27 at 7 pm
Performances July 3, 10-11, 17-18, 23-25 at 7 pm
July 12 & 19 at 2 pm
Please prepare a 1 - 2 minute monologue and a 1 - 1.5 minute cut of a song from a different Sondheim show (NOT Into the Woods) or style equivalent - backing track preferred. (A bluetooth speaker will be available).

All adult actors in these productions will receive a stipend. At the CTC we proudly employ and embrace non-traditional as well as color-conscious casting. Actors of Color are particularly encouraged to audition!
Show Description:
Once upon a time, in a far-off kingdom… wishes are made, bargains are struck, and someone loses a slipper. A baker and his wife set out to reverse a curse, while Cinderella, Jack, Rapunzel, and Little Red chase their own dreams to find their happy endings. But wishes come true, not free. This witty, poignant, and unforgettable musical with Stephen Sondheim’s gorgeous score reveals what lies beyond “happily ever after.”

Narrator
An intellectual and pleasant story-teller who helps to orchestrate the show and illustrate lessons to the audience.

Cinderella
A young, earnest maiden who wants a different life but doesn't know what exactly she wants that to be.

Jack
The feckless Giant killer who is 'almost a man.' He is adventurous, naive, energetic, and bright-eyed.

Jack's Mother
Browbeating and weary, Jack's protective mother is independent, bold, and strong-willed.

The Baker
A harried and insecure baker who is simple and loving, yet protective of his family. He wants his wife to be happy and is willing to do anything to ensure her happiness but refuses to let others fight his battles.

The Baker's Wife
Determined and bright woman who wishes to be a mother. She leads a simple, yet satisfying life and is very low-maintenance yet proactive in her endeavors.

The mean-spirited, demanding stepmother of Cinderella.

Florinda and Lucinda
Cinderella's stepsisters who are black of heart. They follow in their mother's footsteps of abusing Cinderella.

Little Red Ridinghood
A spoiled young girl who is strong-willed, quick-witted, fearless, yet youthful and naive.

The Witch
Sarcastic, ugly-then-gorgeous, obsessive protector of Rapunzel who is straightforward and aggressive.

Cinderella's Mother
Deceased with her soul guarding and aiding her daughter from a tree.

Mysterious Man
A mischievous vagrant and nosy meddler. He is a good-natured protector and observer.

Wolf
Hungry and insatiable hunter who takes advantage of the weak by misleading and captivating his prey.

Rapunzel
A loopy-but-lovely maiden who is sheltered by the Witch and terribly lonely. She yearns to experience the world.

Vain and gorgeous, he is a disloyal lover who is currently searching for the next new, exciting thing.
