Bursting with iconic hits like “Holding Out for a Hero,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” and the unforgettable title track “Footloose,” this electrifying show follows city teen Ren McCormack as he shakes up a small town where dancing is outlawed. With explosive choreography, heartfelt storytelling, and a soundtrack that’ll have you grooving in your seat, Footloose is a feel-good crowd-pleaser that proves sometimes all it takes is one voice—and one dance—to spark a revolution.

CAST REQUIREMENTS – Large cast of teens and adults (ages 16 and up)

When? Monday, May 18 and Tuesday, May 19 at 6:30PM. All auditions are by appointment only.
What: Please prepare a short vocal selection that best shows your abilities and range (PLEASE Bring sheet music if selection is not from the show, but PLEASE DO NOT BRING IN MUSIC PRINTED FROM MUSESCORE)
Wear comfortable clothing and footwear for dance audition. Also expect cold-readings from the script for key roles.

Tentative Rehearsal Schedule: Sundays from 6:00 – 9:00PM; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 – 10:00PM
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS
Ren McCormack (Teen) Tenor. Energetic, emotional, rebellious, likeable; emotes his pain through quirky sarcasm and dance; strong dancer.
Reverend Shaw Moore (Adult) Baritone. The powerful, traditional local church leader; strict, stern, and solemn, still struggling with the death of his son.
Ariel Moore (Teen) Mezzo-Pop. Smart, a bit of the bad girl with an edge, sweet, the rebellious minister’s daughter; role requires strong belt, must be a strong singer/dancer.
Vi Moore (Adult) Soprano. Reverend Moore’s loving, supportive, resilient wife.
Rusty (Teen) Great soprano/pop voice. Ariel’s friend; a bit scatterbrained, sweet, fun, knows everything about everything; role requires strong belt, strong comedic timing and dance.
Willard Hewitt (Teen) Tenor. A simple country bumpkin with a warm heart and a big smile; comedic timing and dance a must.
Ethel McCormack (Adult) Soprano. Ren’s mother; had a tough go, just trying to make it…would do anything for her son.
Chuck Cranston (Teen) Tenor. The local bad boy and Ariel’s boyfriend.
Urleen (Teen) Mezzo/Alto. Ariel’s friend; the smart one of the group; role requires strong belt, comedic timing, and dance.
Wendy Jo (Teen) Mezzo. Ariel’s friend; strong belt, comedic timing, and dance required.
Ensemble (Teens and Adults): Townspeople, students; need strong character people (all age ranges) for many roles (listed below); most ensemble members need to both sing and dance.
