Audition Location: Pride Collective and Community Center
What to bring: headshot*, resume*, conflict calendar through September
“Livin’ the Dream” synopsis: Employees and customers from four retail spaces battle to retain their humanity, their connections to others, and their ability to pay their bills as the world falls apart around them. “Livin’ the Dream” explores the consequences of capitalist interactions in which humans are treated as functions: the degradation of our relationships, ourselves, and our civilization.
Content warning: adult language, homophobia/slurs, alcohol and substance abuse, parent death
Please note: As this script is in development, rehearsals will include thorough feedback sessions, and your input is highly valued!.

Roles (12):
Cashier 1 (young, idealistic, passionate)
Cashier 2 (goes with the flow, uncertain)
Gas Station Manager (apathetic, imposing, irritable)
Unhoused (trying their best, struggling to exist in public)
Server (100% extrovert, heart on their sleeve, vulnerable)
Chef (overworked, underpaid, full of rage)
Salesperson 1 (self centered, hard working, ethically dubious, sibling to Monitor)
Salesperson 2 (barely making ends meet, frustrated, haunted)
Owner (owns a car dealership, acts like they own people)
Monitor (unwilling enforcer, devoted child, grieving, sibling to Salesperson 1)
Mom (empathetic, imperfect, dying) and Big Box Boss (an overwhelmed voice)
Stage Directions (clear, evocative, commanding)
Time commitment: Approximately 18 hours - 5 rehearsals and 1 performance
Performance: September 18th at the Community Stage at FMCT in the Hjemkomst Center, 1st Ave N, Moorhead
