Five people gather to take part in a drama class in a small-town community center. Over the course of six weeks, Marty, James, Schultz, Theresa, and Lauren participate in a series of theatre games that entangle and unite them in hilarious and sometimes heartbreaking ways.Directed by Sharon Andrews
Auditions are Tuesday, Mar. 24 and Wednesday, Mar. 25 at 6pm, at our rehearsal space at Electric Pyramid Studios, 709 Patterson Ave., Winston-Salem, and will consist of cold readings from the script. NO APPOINTMENT NEEDED! Join us either night of auditions. Potential callbacks later in the week if needed.
Performances are May 8-10, 15-17, 2026 at the Mountcastle Forum in Winston-Salem.
ROLES:
MARTY – 55, class instructor and co-executive director of the Community Center. She's a free spirit. Married to James.
JAMES – 60, a mellow college professor. Married to Marty, his 2nd wife.
THERESA – 35, confident former professional actor. Moved from NYC to be closer to aging parents.
SCHULTZ – 48, recently-divorced carpenter, sensitive and a bit awkward.
LAUREN – 16, shy high schooler. Her parents are constantly fighting. Wants to study either theatre & dance or be a vet.
All roles available! SGTC encourages gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender and non-binary actors to audition for all roles. We will also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities.
Actors cast in our shows now receive a small stipend in acknowledgement of their work, talent, and time.
