Founded in 1938 as the Balmoral Boys’ Silver Band, Auckland City Brass is a B grade brass band based in Onehunga, Auckland. The band is committed to developing, teaching, and performing quality brass music in the community, and also regularly appears at competitions, public events, and at private functions.
The conductor of Auckland City Brass is Mark Close (Ex-APO Trombonist).
The members of the band vary in age from 17 to 77. We are a open community band who welcomes and encourages new players to join or even come and have a blow.
July 2024 sees us competing in the Brass Band Association of NZ National Contest with over 1000 brass musicians from around the country and international guests.
Our full Senior and Youth Bands both compete, but there is also a section for showcasing soloists and ensembles.
It is these musicians that will be presenting and performing.
They range from Junior to experienced Senior soloists, cornets, trombones, tenor horns, small ensembles, a trombone sextet and a 12 piece.
Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy the talent we have to offer.
There is nothing as rewarding as playing in front of a live audience. And this concert gives our performers a chance to demonstrate their skills and talent before contest day.
Any queries welcome to the Band Managers Trish or Stephen. [email protected] 021 449229.
We hope to see you there!
