We're still in Balance Dance Studios' Bravo building, but we're trying out Studio 10 down the hall, which has a different vibe and a nook with comfortable seating--come check it out!

**PRICING**
Sliding scale: $10-25. We accept card, cash, or Venmo at the door.
We believe in making our events accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation, so our scale begins at $10. We also want to offer reasonable pricing options for those who can only join us for part of the night. However, we really encourage you to pay at least $15 if you are able, so that we can maintain the quality of the event 🙏
CLASS TOPIC: Finding the Edge
CLASS DESCRIPTION: What makes a dance feel like a real conversation? A lot of it comes down to tone. Not musical tone, but muscle tone: how engaged your body is, what you're offering through the connection, and whether you're tuning in to what your partner is sending back. This class grew out of the instructor’s experience learning connection principles in West Coast Swing and discovering how dramatically they improved her dancing across all styles—especially Fusion.
We’ll dig into the concept of tone matching and what it means to “find the edge” of a connection: that sweet spot where you’re neither collapsing the frame nor wrestling someone across the floor. Through a series of partnered exercises (with everyone taking turns leading and following), we’ll explore how dancers use tone to communicate—and how to adapt when your partner’s defaults don’t match your own.
Whether you're new to partner dancing or a seasoned dancer trying to understand why some dances just click, you’ll leave with new vocabulary for what you’re already feeling and practical tools for becoming a more responsive, connected dancer. This class is aimed at both leaders and followers, but it will be especially helpful for followers who want to feel more agency and influence over the quality of their dances.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Krystyna has extensive training in Blues and WCS, is currently learning Zouk, and has dabbled in many other dance styles. One of ATX Fusion's regular DJs and teachers, she's a huge dance nerd who loves communicating technical concepts in a practical way. In her class, expect to learn essential concepts that will level up your dancer brain, as well as concrete examples of how to apply them on the dance floor.
LOCATION:
We host our events at Balance Dance Studios! We are in Studio 10, which is located in Balance Dance Studios' Bravo building, just across the parking lot from their main building. The building we'll be in says "Bravo" on it. If the building says "Balance" on it and has a front desk, you're in the wrong place. If you're driving and using Google Maps, you can put in "Bravo Dance Theater, 4000 West Gate Blvd," but this won't work if you're taking a rideshare.
PLEASE NOTE:
Venue does not permit alcohol. Please feel free to BYO other beverages, especially water, dancing is a physical activity after all!
Only soft-soled dance shoes, socks, or bare feet are allowed on the studio floor. Please do not wear street shoes, heels, or hard-heeled shoes on the studio floor, as they will damage it. Help us keep this beautiful venue in great shape!
If you're feeling under the weather or ill, please don't attend! Take care of yourself, and avoid bringing a contagion to a crowded space and dance partners you care about.

WHAT IS FUSION DANCING?
Fusion is an improvisational partner dance where there's a lead and a follow that isn't confined to or defined by one style. Fusion dancers tend to be familiar with the basics of more than one partner dance (Blues, Tango, West Coast Swing, Brazilian Zouk, Lindy Hop, etc.)
