About this Event
The Camp will take place from 10am to 3pm Tuesday to Friday and is open to children between the ages 12 to 17. The camp will be onCampus in ATU Letterkenny, you need to register here to attend the camp.
The camp will incorporate the following workshops:
Tuesday 2nd June - Robotics Introduction
Students are introduced to the world of robotics through hands-on activities that explore what robots are and how they are used in real life. Working in teams, they begin assembling their first robot while learning about key components such as motors, wheels, and basic control systems. Through guided challenges, they gain an understanding of how different parts come together to create a functioning robot, setting the foundation for the days ahead.
Wednesday 3rd June - Robotic Engineering
This day focuses on the design and construction of robots, where students explore engineering principles such as structural stability, balance, and drivetrain configuration. They test different build approaches, refine their designs, and learn how small changes can improve performance. Through iterative prototyping and teamwork, students develop practical problem-solving skills and gain insight into how engineers design effective robotic systems.
Thursday 4th June - Robotic Sensor Design
Students explore how robots interpret and respond to their environment using sensors. They experiment with tools that detect distance, recognise objects, and trigger actions, allowing their robots to adapt to different situations. Through hands-on challenges, they learn how sensor input influences behaviour, introducing key concepts such as automation, feedback, and responsive control in modern robotics.
Friday 5th June - Robotic Programming
On this day, students focus on coding their robots to perform specific tasks and solve challenges. They learn how to use programming concepts such as sequencing, loops, and conditional statements to control movement and decision-making. As they test and debug their code, students refine their algorithms and improve performance, building confidence in their ability to create reliable and efficient robotic solutions.
