A 1 day workshop inviting practitioners to slow down & work differently with professional & ethical dilemmas in uncertain & demanding times.
About this Event

This workshop is hosted by Lorna Edwards and Hugh Palmer.

Drawing on ecosystemic practice, Batesonian thinking and more-than-human approaches, the day offers an embodied and relational exploration of attention, power and responsibility. Through an outdoor meditative walk, inquiry with more-than-human companions, a keynote orientation and shared reflective practice, participants are invited to notice how urgency, certainty and control shape their professional responses, and to reflect upon what becomes possible when attention is widened to include place, body and ecological relations. The workshop focuses on ethical positioning, relational humility and practices of restraint for contemporary systemic and helping professionals.

Lorna Edwards is a systemic psychotherapist living and working independently in the South Wales/Cymru valleys. She feels that caring for Planet Earth and working for social justice is our way forward - as an alternative to our previously deluded (anthropocentric/human privileged) way of thinking and acting. And that we can do this through community connection/action - human and more than human - both local and virtual.

Hugh Palmer is a systemic psychotherapist and Systemic Lead for a Clinical Psychology Doctorate at the University of Hull. His work draws on Gregory Bateson, second-order cybernetics and ecological thinking, with a particular interest in power, ethics and relational responsibility within therapeutic practice. His current writing considers how to hold material, relational, cultural and spiritual ways of seeing without them becoming a single story.
