Message from Guest facilitator Jamal Vickers:
"In 2018, I assumed multiple roles, starting as a Marketing Manager then sharing the A&R role with founder Gavin Sheppard and heading up the distribution arm. I then moved to Warner Music Canada and held the title of Marketing Manager for Hip-Hop and R&B before my departure in 2024.
Alongside my career in the music industry, I’ve also been practicing meditation for over 10 years. This was instrumental for me and served as a foundation for not only finding the balance in a chaotic and stressful industry but also for all my future endeavours in the wellness space.
In 2024 I launched an initiative called BALM, focusing on teaching mindfulness to the music industry - teaching the basics of Asana, Breathwork, and Meditation, followed by community conversations. To close out the year, I’ve completed my 200 Hr Yoga Teacher Training and will be opening up private classes to artists and business people in the music industry, along with a focus on black men in general.
We will be listening to Andre 3000's new album (no lyrics) - New Blue Sun - is recorded at 432 Hz, and according to the Meditative Mind website, music tuned to that frequency will fill you with a sense of peace. It helps to release stress and tension from the body naturally; it helps the body release serotonin and endorphins, and it helps with the release of negative energy.
Join me on the mat, and let's embark on this shared adventure of self-discovery, mindfulness, and inner peace. I look forward to meeting you and being part of your yoga journey. Om Shanti!"
