A Fusion of Robotics, Rhythm, and Toronto’s Vibrant Cultural Pulse
About this Event

Join us Saturday, September 6 in New York City for the unveiling of — a towering 10-foot robotic instrument that celebrates Toronto’s vibrant culture, diversity, and creative energy. This kinetic sound sculpture is the result of a visionary collaboration between architect-musician Danny Shaddick and renowned rapper-broadcaster Shad.

Built from repurposed streetcar parts and reclaimed drums, Moving Monuments pulses with the sounds of Toronto itself — field recordings from parks, stations, street corners, and more.

The event will include a durational demonstration of and opportunities to observe the instrument’s detailed mechanisms up close, an artist talk delving into Danny and Shad’s creative journey behind the drum tower — from reclaimed streetcars to robotic rhythms, and an exciting interactive collaboration between human and robot in which Shad will perform live with the robotic drum tower. Celebrated chef Jordan Andino will be onsite serving a custom menu of iconic Toronto dishes, including his take on a classic peameal bacon sandwich and a vegetarian poutine.

Come witness how music, technology, and innovation come together to highlight Toronto’s rich cultural tapestry.

SCHEDULE:

will be on display from 12:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

Shad will perform live with the robotic instrument at 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM, 6:00 PM & 8:00 PM.
