Filmed in communities (including Atlanta) around the US between March 2024 and November 2024, a group of interested creatives from all sides of the aisle decided to partner up and get curious about what real people were doing in real time to get involved in their communities, especially as it revolved around civic participation.
Citizens Revival is an educational, awareness film first and foremost that lives in community. Much like democracy itself, it is driven by the people: every participant, educator, public servant, and audience member who engages with it. It doesn't project. It just witnesses, without creating conflict. It asks us not for results, but shows where windows of opportunities arise for each of us to be more engaged. This is a film that is accessible to all ages and levels of understanding. It gives the opportunities for parents & grandparents to engage with their kids, allows the children to ask the hard WHY questions, and figure out how we can foster a better education system as it pertains to democracy, and how it works before it's too late.
The film explores the state of our democracy, largely from the perspective of young people with a focus on education. It’s full of hope, joy, and energy, but also the challenges and obstacles to meaningful participation in our system. We are ready to start our conversation now, and with you. Here's to art that makes a difference. You are part of that process by showing up. Thank you.
A very special thanks to the Trara Theater for hosting this event, and Munir & David for ALL their contributions and to the incredible local organizations tabling at the event.
And many praises to our ATL crew: Director of Photography Peter Leininger, Camera Operators Craig Goodale & Antonio Tarrell, and Live Sound Mixer Alonso Cacho.
