[EN] The city’s annual art book fair is back! After last year’s Local Edition, the Athens Art Book Fair returns with an international event hosting 80 local and international exhibitors and 60 participants in the Collective Table.
Aiming at showcasing the polyvocality of contemporary artist publishing the Athens Art Book Fair brings together established publishing houses, experimental, DIY publications and many more projects devoted to printed matter and publishing as artistic medium. The fair is a natural meeting point of contemporary art, photography, poetry, design, typography, magazine publishing and offers visitors the chance to explore the Greek scene and come in contact with publishing practices from Egypt, Cyprus, Turkey, Lebanon, Italy, Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Mexico, Argentina, Peru, USA, UK, France, Iran and many more.
This year’s event program will take place parallel to the fair both on site and online through FADE radio. The program focuses on publishing practices outside the main centres of cultural production and explores how publishing has been a tool for creating independent artistic networks both historically and in the present. All talks will be broadcasted live on www.fade.radio where you can also tune in to listen to a variety of shows put together by a selection of Athens Art Book Fair exhibitors!

Η ετήσια έκθεση καλλιτεχνικού βιβλίου είναι και πάλι στην πόλη! Μετά από την περσινή Local Edition, το Athens Art Book Fair επιστρέφει με διεθνές πρόγραμμα και μας δίνει ραντεβού στο Ωδείο Αθηνών. Με 80 εκθέτες από την Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό και 60 συμμετοχές στο Συλλογικό Τραπέζι, η φετινή εκδήλωση είναι και η μεγαλύτερη που έχει διοργανώσει έως τώρα η ομάδα του Athens Art Book Fair.
Με στόχο την ανάδειξη της πολυμορφίας των σύγχρονων καλλιτεχνικών εκδόσεων, το Athens Art Book Fair φέρνει κοντά καταξιωμένους εκδοτικούς οίκους, πειραματικές, DIY εκδόσεις και πολλές άλλες ανεξάρτητες πρωτοβουλίες που σχετίζονται με το έντυπο ως δημιουργικό μέσο. Η ετήσια έκθεση αποτελεί φυσικό χώρο συνάντησης για τα σύγχρονα εικαστικά, τη φωτογραφία, την ποίηση, το design και την τυπογραφία δίνοντας στους επισκέπτες τη δυνατότητα να ανακαλύψουν πληθώρα καλλιτεχνών και να έρθουν σε επαφή με ανεξάρτητες εκδοτικές πρακτικές από την Αίγυπτο, την Κύπρο, την Τουρκία, το Λίβανο, την Ιταλία, την Αλβανία, την Ουκρανία, τη Βουλγαρία, τη Σερβία, καθώς και από πιο μακρινές χώρες του πλανήτη όπως το Μεξικό, η Αργεντινή, το Περού, το Ιράν, τα Αραβικά Εμιράτα και πολλές άλλες.
Παράλληλα με την έκθεση, θα διεξαχθεί το Δημόσιο Πρόγραμμα ομιλιών του Athens Art Book Fair το οποίο εστιάζει στην ανάδειξη εγχειρημάτων τα οποία αποκρίνονται σε τρέχοντα καλλιτεχνικά και κοινωνικοπολιτικά ζητήματα. Συγκεκριμένα, το φετινό Δημόσιο Πρόγραμμα επιχειρεί μέσα από ομιλίες να εξερευνήσει την έννοια της αποκέντρωσης στη σύγχρονη ανεξάρτητη εκδοτική παραγωγή, αλλά και τη συμβολή των καλλιτεχνών βιβλίου στη δημιουργία νεοσύστατων πολιτιστικών και διασυνοριακών δικτύων υποστήριξης και προβολής του μέσου. Φέτος το Athens Art Book Fair εγκαινιάζει και τη συνεργασία του με το Fade Radio το οποίο θα λειτουργήσει ως πλατφόρμα αναμετάδοσης και φιλοξενίας παράλληλων δράσεων του δημόσιου προγράμματος τις τρεις μέρες διεξαγωγής της έκθεσης. Εκεί θα παρουσιαστεί η επιμελημένη σειρά ηχογραφήσεων με τίτλο Broadcasting Pages: Tales from the Local Scene η οποία είναι αποκλειστικά αφιερωμένη στην εγχώρια ανεξάρτητη εκδοτική σκηνή, ενώ το κοινό θα έχει πρόσβαση στις ομιλίες, αλλά και σε επιπλέον παρουσιάσεις και μουσικές επιλογές από εκθέτες/ριες της φετινής διοργάνωσης των οποίων η υβριδική πρακτική διαδρά με μέσα όπως ο ήχος και η περφόρμανς. Οπότε αν θέλετε πολύ να παρακολουθήσετε το δημόσιο πρόγραμμα, αλλά δεν μπορείτε να παρευρεθείτε στο χώρο, μην ανησυχείτε - το πρόγραμμα ομιλιών θα είναι προσβάσιμο και διαδικτυακά!
