About this Event
Museum Assembly Series
The ICOM UK Student & Emerging Professionals Working Group (S&EP) in-person Event at the Museum of the Home is the first in-person event organised by and for the S&EP community. This will bring together current and future museum workers to encourage discussion and interaction around the future of the ICOM UK younger generation community, and reflection on the ongoing work of the Museum of the Home.
The S&EP Working Group hopes that the first in-person event will help bolster member engagement with ICOM UK and fellow members, as well as potential future members, allowing us to plan future events around member-identified needs and wants. We also hope this event will help provide the Museum of the Home with a potential new interested audience and discussion around the museum’s ongoing work, we wish to take this opportunity to hear voices of the younger generation in the museum and cultural sector, listen to their insights, share with each other the vision and mission of individuals and collectives, and help everyone to build a better future togeher.
Venue: Museum of the Home
They are the only museum of the home in the world, a place to learn how we have lived in the past, explore how we live today, and talk about how we can live better together.
Home has many meanings - from the buildings we live in, to a feeling that goes beyond a specific place. They have emerged from the global pandemic and are realising their vision, with issues-focused programming and a celebration of diverse collections that pose the question: what does home mean to you?
