🌬️ Asé Omo Egun: Honoring the Ancestral Power | Friday, October 31st | 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Family Friendly | All Ages (The hosts 2.5 year old will be with us, feel free to bring your kiddos 👻)
📍 We’ll be gathering in SE Portland, OR. RSVP to receive the address.
Accessibility Notes 📝
This is a beautiful venue space built behind a private residence. It’s on the first floor and may be challenging for wheelchair users to access due to the gravel driveway. We are exploring the options of borrowing or renting a ramp to improve accessibility.
🧼 The space includes one, single-use restroom.
✨ If you or someone you know needs accessibility support (like ASL interpretation), please let us know as soon as possible. We’re working on accommodations and may have volunteer ASL interpreters available.
🎟️ $5-$50 Suggested Donations from this gatherings go to support the production of the upcoming film Killing Kyle, Written, Produced & Directed by Bri-Skye McKizzie
✨ Hosted by CEG & Kween Hinnessy of The Living Garden Portland — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
💌 Tax-deductible sponsorships available
Email: [email protected] for our sponsorship deck.
🕊️ A Night of Remembrance, Ritual & Renewal
Join us for Asé Omo Egun — a sacred gathering that blends Samhain and Yoruba traditions on the night when the veil between worlds is at its thinnest.
Together, we’ll honor our ancestors, embrace transformation, and prepare for the darker half of the year through music, story, divination, ritual, and community connection. This is more than a celebration — it’s a return to our roots.
✨ Highlights of the Evening
🔹 Dress as the Divine
Come dressed as an Ancestor, Orisha, Spirit Guide, or Sacred Archetype. Costumes were originally meant to disguise and protect us as we moved through the spirit world — let yours carry power.
🔹 Trick-or-Treat, Reimagined
We’ll have allergy-conscious, vegan-friendly, and high-vibe goodies offered by sponsors and community partners. You’re welcomed to bring a themed treat for the group to enjoy.
🔹 Ceremonial Cacao
Begin the night grounded in warmth and shared heart-opening with a ceremonial cacao offering.
🔹 Ancestral Altar
Contribute to our community altar with photos, candles, herbs, or sacred items. We’ll light candles and call in the presence of those who walk with us still.
🔹 Divination & Insight
Bring your tarot, oracle decks, or other tools — or receive from others. This is a potent time to listen for what your spirit is ready to release or receive.
🔹 Drumming, Singing & Storytelling
If you have a drum or voice, bring it! We’ll share stories and songs, including a special performance of the Orisha Oya’s myth — Goddess of Storms, Transformation, and the Graveyard — brought to life by CEG.
🔹 Meditation & Fire Ritual
Close the night with a guided meditation and written intention setting. We’ll gather beneath the moonlight to burn our pages, releasing what no longer serves us and calling in renewal.

🌿 What to Bring:
• 📸 A photo or item for the ancestral altar
• 🪘Your drum, rattle, or singing voice if inspired
• 🧣 Layers for warmth during the outdoor fire ritual
• 🕯️ Anything else that feels sacred to your spirit (optional: candles, card decks, treat for the table etc)
**📝 Paper & Pens for writing intentions will be provided**
🌀 This Circle is For You
Whether you’re deeply rooted in ancestral practice or just beginning to reconnect with your lineage — you are welcome here. We are especially holding space for Black, Indigenous, Brown, Queer, and Neurodivergent community members who crave spiritual grounding and cultural remembrance.
Come as you are. Come with love. Come with reverence.
