The Astronomical Society of Western Australia is pleased to announce a celebration of its 75th Anniversary on the 15th May 2025.The Society will host a BBQ at its Whiteman Park Viewing site on Saturday 17th May 2025 from 3:30 pm until late.
We are delighted to invite all Societies, Groups and associated Astronomical clubs to join us at the event.
It will be in the form of a BYO everything BBQ, and ASWA will provide soft drinks and a birthday cake or two. So come along, bring a plate and your favourite poison and join us in celebrating 75 years of ASWA.
You can also bring along a telescope, chair and anything else you may require, gas bbq’s are available at the Park. As it’s nearly a full moon that night, it will be a Lunar Viewing event with a screen and projector showcasing Lunar features direct from scope mounted cameras.
Should the weather be inclement we will make a decision a week before based on the weather forecast and we can move the event to a different part of the Park with a meeting room, kitchen and toilets etc, so it will go ahead regardless of the weather.
We hope you can attend and we request an indication of your groups interest and ability to join us by early March 2025. In the mean time can you promote this night of celebration amongst your members and associates.
As there will be no Astrofest in 2025 so this is a chance for us all to come together and make this a night to remember.
Whiteman Park is open until 6pm for access, after that it closes to the general public but we can leave at any time.
This has been sent out to the following groups: AGWA, Stargazers Club, Perth Observatory Volunteers, South Western Astronomy and ICRAR, but if you can add any others please let me know and I will contact them as well.
Thank you for your attention and we look forward to hearing from you all and making this happen
Regards and Clear Skies
