This Masterclass offers a clear and accessible introduction to the Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series, traditionally known as Yoga Chikitsa, meaning “yoga therapy.”We begin with a short introduction to the roots Ashtanga Vinyasa, its connection to the eight limbs of yoga, and the lineage shaped by K. Pattabhi Jois. From there, we move into a guided exploration of the Primary Series as a steady, heat-building practice that supports circulation, focus, and the gradual removal of physical and mental distractions. the practice will take it's time through the poses, so that we can properly explore and understand the alignment, principles and intention behind each pose and transition.
What we will explore:
The structure and intention behind the Primary Series (Yoga Chikitsa).
Foundational techniques: breath (Ujjayi), energy locks (Bandhas), and gaze (Drishti).
Key postures, transitions, and alignment principles within the sequence.
Options and modifications to make the practice accessible to all levels.
How repetition of the same sequence deepens strength, focus, and awareness.
