About this Event

The ASSCR is pleased to invite you to our Early-to-Mid Career Researcher scientific meeting in VIC: stEM Cell Research symposium: From patient and back again, an EMCR's tale. We welcome all EMCRs: students from Honours to Masters, all years of PhDs, Postdocs, RAs, Lab Techs & Industry Reps. This meeting builds on our successes and is part of a series of interstate symposia held throughout the year. Join us for your 1-day local in-person symposium on July 25th at the Florey Institute. The event will be in the Kenneth Myer Building's Ian Potter Auditorium.

This series is designed to promote EMCRs at all career stages and showcase the cutting-edge science produced by Australia's next generation of researchers. As such, this meeting will cover a wide array of stem cell research topics, including, but not limited to:

  • Disease modelling
  • Vector design and gene editing
  • Cell and gene therapy strategies
  • Regenerative medicine
  • Organoids
  • Spatial transcriptomics
  • Computational biology
  • Developmental biology

The Symposium includes:

  • Complimentary lunch
  • Morning and afternoon tea
  • Platform presentations (ASSCR members preferred)
  • Lightning talks
  • Dedicated poster session
  • Prizes and awards!
  • Networking function facilitated immediately after the meeting, on-site!

Registration is FREE for all ASSCR members! Not a member yet? Sign up - from $60 for a 1-year student membership. Registration for non-members is $ 40 AUD per delegate.

The program committee will select presenters for platform presentations, lightning talks, or the poster session based on abstract submissions. The numbers of each type will depend on registration rates. ASSCR members will be prioritised for platform presentations.


Abstracts are DUE BY JUNE 7th! Only 300 words and the title should be short and snappy!


About us:

The Australasian Society for Stem Cell Research (ASSCR) aims to support stem cell research and encourage scientific exchange across Australasia, build an active national and international stem cell research community, and provide all interested parties with the opportunity to access information relating to scientific, medical and ethical advances in the broad field of stem cell research. A particular emphasis of the ASSCR is also to communicate this information to the general public.
