ASP MISSION: To improve the quality of life of intellectually disabled adults and their families by providing programs for socialization, recreation, and habilitation.
The Special Connexion day habilitation program established in 2003 has 5 locations that provide daily activities in gym games, arts and crafts, therapeutic exercises, bowling, swimming, community service, field trips to various parks, libraries, movies, restaurants, museums, and other points of interest in the Metroplex. Our programs serve more than 130 special needs adults.
We coach and support an athletic program where our special athletes are trained in basketball, volleyball, track and field, softball, bocce, flag football, aquatics and soccer. Our teams regularly compete in Special Olympics competitions at the area and state level. The Volleyball team will travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota to represent Texas at the USA Special Olympic Games in June 2026!
We also have a Scout Troop 517, that is the only troop designated to scouting for people with intellectual disabilities in the Longhorn Council which includes 23 counties. This troop consists of people with all ages. In fact, one of the scouts earned his Eagle award at age 50.
To corporate and private sponsors: Our annual fundraiser is kicking off and we need your help. The monies raised will support our day habilitation/day camp program and transportation expenses as well as the purchase of uniforms, equipment, and travel expenses for our athletes who participate in Special Olympics competitions. We are looking for SPONSORS and silent auction donations for this event. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization so your donations are tax deductible.
