Foundations of Ashtanga Yoga
Friday Evening | Workshop
This workshop offers an accessible introduction to the core principles of the Ashtanga Yoga method. Students will learn the foundational elements that make the practice both powerful and sustainable: breath (ujjayi), posture (asana), gaze (drishti), and rhythm of movement (vinyasa).
We will explore how the traditional structure of the Ashtanga system supports strength, mobility, focus, and long-term practice. Students will break down several key postures and movement patterns from the Primary Series Standing Sequence, while learning how to approach the practice with intelligence and awareness.
This session is ideal for students newer to Ashtanga, as well as experienced practitioners who want to refine the fundamental building blocks of their practice.
Open to all levels.
Led Primary Series
Saturday Morning | Practice
The Led Primary Series is a traditional group practice in which the teacher guides students through the sequence of the Ashtanga Primary Series in a steady rhythm linked with breath.
This dynamic practice develops strength, flexibility, endurance, and concentration while cultivating the meditative flow that makes Ashtanga Yoga unique. Students will receive clear guidance on breath, pacing, and posture alignment, helping them experience the practice as both a physical discipline and a moving meditation.
Students are encouraged to practice at their own capacity, with variations/modifications offered as needed.
Suitable for students with some yoga experience.
Practical Anatomy for Yogis
Saturday Midday | Workshop
This practical anatomy workshop is designed to help students understand how their bodies function within yoga practice.
Rather than approaching anatomy as abstract theory, this session focuses on how joints, muscles, and movement patterns relate directly to common yoga postures and transitions. Participants will learn how to identify healthy ranges of motion, avoid common injury patterns, and work with their individual structure rather than against it.
Topics may include:
• Shoulder stability and mobility
• Hip rotation and forward folding mechanics
• Core engagement and spinal support
• Intelligent approaches to flexibility and strength
This workshop is especially helpful for Ashtanga or Vinyasa practitioners looking to deepen their understanding of alignment and body mechanics.
Accessible to all students and teachers.
Mysore-Style Practice
Sunday Morning | Practice
Mysore-style practice is the traditional way Ashtanga Yoga is taught. Instead of moving together in sync as a group, students will practice at their own pace while receiving individualized guidance and adjustments from the teacher.
This format allows practitioners to work directly with their own breath, rhythm, ability, and developmental stage within the sequence. Students new to Mysore will receive clear instruction and support, while more experienced practitioners will have the opportunity to deepen their practice with personalized guidance and adjustments.
The Mysore method creates a unique environment where each student’s practice can evolve in a sustainable and individualized way.
Open to all levels, including those new to Ashtanga.
Transitions & Arm Balancing Workshop
Sunday Midday | Workshop
This workshop explores the intelligent mechanics behind transitions and arm balances found in the Ashtanga Primary and Intermediate Series.
Students will learn how strength, breath, and technique combine to make challenging movements feel lighter and more efficient. We will break down key transitions step by step, exploring how to safely develop the strength and coordination required for movements such as:
• Jump backs and jump throughs
• Core integration in transitions
• Foundational arm balances
• Floating and controlled movement between postures
Students will also learn preparatory drills and progressions that make these skills accessible to a wide range of practitioners.
Appropriate for students with a regular yoga practice.
