ASHRAE Hawai‘i Chapter and Hawai‘i Energy are thrilled to bring seasoned instructor and consultant David Wylie to Hawai‘i for a four-day series of FREE workshops on electrical, mechanical and energy topics. Please register quickly, in-person seats are very limited. Classes will be held at the Hawai‘i Energy Training Room (50 N. King St. Suite #500, Honolulu HI 96817). Coffee, lunch and parking validation will be provided.
Motors
Attendees will learn about rating standards, the principles of an efficient motor, better management of motors for maximum operation, motor life expectancy, and how to benefit from motor efficiency in facilities. Will also cover selected emerging technologies.
This class also explores different types of motors, various efficiency features, and how to repair or replace motors. If your head is spinning just thinking about buying a new motor, this course will give you some helpful selection criteria. Find your bearings in terms of developing a maintenance plan that will keep your equipment in the best shape to avoid failure and unnecessary costs.

• Identify different motor parts
• Define a motor management plan
• Compare motor size and operating load
• Describe the correlation between motors and loads
• Explain horsepower, slip, and torque
• Distinguish applications of nameplate data
• Assess load control opportunities for motors
• Identify the causes of motor failure
• Discuss motor losses and how to improve energy efficiency
• Outline a motor maintenance plan
• Evaluate whether to rewind, repair, or replace a problematic motor
