About this Event
Join Dorchester County Parks & Recreation and Clemson Extension for a fun and educational pollinator garden workshop on April 8, 2026. The workshop will take place at Ashley River Park (200 Renken Road, Summerville, SC 29485) near the pavilion.
What You’ll Learn
- Overview of Ashley River Park and the project’s goals
- The importance of pollinators
- Introduction to native plants
- How to select the right plants for you site's conditions
- Overview of species that will be used in this project
- Proper planting techniques
- Maintenance recommendations
After the introductory presentation, participants will have the opportunity to help install native plants in the park’s new pollinator garden.
Participants will also receive additional educational resources to take home for further learning.

- Hands-on Planting: 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
What to Wear/Bring
- Closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get dirty
- Refillable water bottle
- Sun protection
All planting tools will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own garden gloves if preferred. Light refreshments and a water cooler will be available.
