Jazz at Meade is proud to welcome the Ashlei Peoples Trio for the sixth concert in the 2025 concert season. Ashlei Peoples is a pianist, keyboardist, arranger, songwriter, and educator from northern Virginia, known for her expressive playing, musical versatility, and impactful presence across both academic and performance stages with over twenty years of experience. Ashlei attended Spelman College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music-Piano Performance, cum laude.Currently based in Washington, D.C., Ashlei Peoples is a highly sought-after freelance musician, performing events, churches, and concerts throughout the DMV area. Ashlei and her band have had the honor of performing for Gladys Mae West, the inventor of the GPS system, and have opened for legendary artists such as Jean Carne, Michael Henderson, and The Dramatics. She has played with the renowned all- female band Bela Dona, serves as a keyboardist for the DC Transit Band, and is the musical director and pianist for Band
of Roses.
Her performances have graced prestigious venues including The Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, and acclaimed productions at Keegan Theatre, Creative Cauldron, and Howard University.
Ashlei is proudly endorsed by Juicy Ears Music Shop, a testament to her excellence and influence within the music community. She has also served as the Musical Director and pianist for artists such as Melisa Morgan, Nikea Marie, and more.
