Be Kind to Your Pastors. Be Gentle. Give Extra Love.As we enter this sacred season, remember that pastors everywhere are preparing for Lent—navigating everything that comes in between, whether spiritual, emotional, mental, or physical. This is a time of deep reflection, dedication, and sometimes exhaustion.
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, a season of 40 days (not counting Sundays) leading up to Easter. Rooted in the early Christian tradition, it is a time of repentance, fasting, and preparation, mirroring Jesus’ 40 days in the wilderness. Over the centuries, many Christian traditions—Catholic, Protestant, and Orthodox alike—have embraced Lent as a season of renewal, sacrifice, and transformation.
At FCC, we also observe Lent as a time to refocus on Christ, our mission, and the love we are called to share. This year, I am preparing through prayer and meditation, guided by the Everything In Between series. This series has arrived at the right time—not just for me, but for FCC and our flock. As we look toward the future and where we are going, we must also recognize and honor everything in between—the challenges, the growth, and the moments that shape us.
So, as Lent begins, extend grace to your pastors, church leaders, and one another. Offer extra kindness, extra patience, and extra love. We are all on this journey together.
Our Journey will begin Wednesday, March 5th, at 6:00 p.m. with a light potluck super and the imposition of ashes.
Please remember, Pastor Jenn Moreno travels from Riverview and will be in traffic as she makes her way to be with us.
