Worship with us on Ash Wednesday as we commemorate the beginning of the 40 days of Lent with the imposition of ashes. For millennia, Christians have marked the beginning of the penitent season of Lent by dawning ashes as an act of humility and repentance. This year, Pastor Ryon will preach a homily titled "Truth, Lamentation, and Hope" -- drawing on the scholarship of theologian Walter Brueggemann who said it is the work of the church to hold to truth in a culture of deceit, sound lament in a society of denial, and proclaim hope amidst a people of despair. Additionally, the Chancel Choir will sing Brahms's "Create in Me a Pure Heart" and "Jesus Walked This Lonesome Valley".
