About this Event
The ASAP Coalition invites counselors, social workers, chemical dependency professionals, nurses, recovery support providers, community advocates and anyone interested in learning how to build recovery in our community and within the clients that they serve, to attend the 2026 ASAP Drug Summit.
The Keynote Speaker is Dr. Nicole Labor, DO, a board-certified physician in Family and Addiction Medicine whose career has been dedicated to transforming the way we understand, treat, and talk about addiction. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biobehavioral Health from The Pennsylvania State University before completing her medical degree at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She went on to complete a residency in Family Practice at the State University of New York in Buffalo, followed by a fellowship in Addiction Medicine through Geisinger in northeastern Pennsylvania.
Dr. Labor currently serves as Medical Director at multiple treatment organizations, including OneEighty in Wooster, Ohio, where she oversees inpatient and outpatient programs for substance use and behavioral health. She is also Medical Director for Interval Brotherhood Home, Ohio Guidestone, and the Esper Treatment Center in Erie, Pennsylvania, and she provides clinical care at Alternative Paths.
A passionate educator and advocate, Dr. Labor co-founded the Addiction Medicine Fellowship at Summa Health and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) as a Director-at-Large. She is widely recognized for her dynamic teaching style and is frequently invited to speak to healthcare professionals, community organizations, schools, and faith-based groups about the science of addiction and the urgent need to dismantle stigma.
Dr. Labor is also the author of a best-selling book and companion workbook that challenges common misconceptions about addiction and offers practical, science-based insights into recovery. Attendees of the Drug Summit will recieve a copy of her latest book, The Addictoholic Reconstructing.
After lunch, participants have the choice of attending two of five breakout sessions:

Objective: Participants in this day long professional development workshop will learn about combatting the issues surrounding addiction, develop knowledge of effective treatment, prevention & recovery interventions to help those battling addiction, and gain information and resources to continue advancing prevention, treatment and recovery in their communities.
$75.00 Registration fee includes: Continental Breakfast and Boxed Lunch, 6.25 hours of CEs for Counselors, Social Workers and Chemical Dependency Professionals. 5.25 hours of CEs for Prevention Specialists.
Registration after May 1st will be accepted with a late registration fee. No registrations will be accepted after May 8th. No refunds will be issued after May 8th. A $6.75 service fee will be deducted from all refunds.
Masks are not required in classroom settings at Kent State Trumbull. We urge our Drug Summit attendees to make the best decision on an individual basis whether to continue masking. We ask all participants to be respectful of the decisions of others and to continue to take any necessary personal precautions against COVID-19. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Nicole Labor. Addiction 101 for 2026: You Think You Know
Info: This training provides a neuroscience-based overview of addiction as a chronic brain disease, explaining how brain function, neurochemistry, stress, and trauma influence substance use, craving, and relapse.
Participants will learn how addiction alters the brain, the key signs of the disease, and common relapse triggers, while exploring evidence-based treatment approaches—including Medic*tion-assisted treatment (MOUD).
The course emphasizes recovery as a holistic process focused on rebuilding brain function, strengthening skills, and fostering connection, purpose, and overall wellness.
