About this Event
This 90 minute class offer a methodical study of the Primary Series, known as Yoga Cikitsā (Yoga Therapy).
💡 🇼🇭🇦🇹 🇹🇴 🇪🇽🇵🇪🇨🇹
You'll receive clear, detailed instructions on how to enter and exit each posture, along with the traditional method’s Vinyasa count.
During practice, we will:
📌 Refine alignment by addressing common misalignments and potential dangers
📌 Explore gentle variations, progressions, and adjustments to make postures more achievable, and
📌 Look into advanced modifications to deepen the posture, target specific body parts, or shift sensation
You'll have ample time to practice with these instructions. This will include working with muscles and connective tissues through releasing tension (active/passive stretching) and strengthening (concentric/eccentric/isometric training).
A key focus will be on intelligent prop use, exploring how to enhance accessibility, progression or safety for different body types and needs.
We will then dissect the anatomy of each posture, identifying its primary target joints, muscle groups, and common physical obstacles.
Beyond learning fundamental instructions for the Primary Series, these Asana labs will allow you to:
📌 Ask questions to refine your own practice
📌 Develop a discerning eye for assisting others
📌 Improve your verbal instructions when teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga
*****This session is scheduled to be a 90 min class but may go upto 120mins depending on Q&A's*****
About our Studio
Born out of the bonds of close friendships and dedication to our traditional practice, the Ashtanga Yoga Centre offers a warm and inviting home for all of our students, whether new or established in the lineage.
Our Shala is a beautiful and serene space, used by Yogis several times a day, and humming with their energy long after they've left.
With three practice studios, honeyed real wood floors and high ceilings, we host a wide variety of classes, workshops, community and social events. Huge windows spill natural light into the main studio, making it a creative, reflective and energising space.
A communal kitchen infused with the aroma of home-brewed Chai tea has become a fond memory for Yogis around the globe as a place to share stories and experiences after practice.
Our generous space also includes changing facilities with toilets and showers, and mat storage facilities for our regular members. Visiting students can borrow practice mats, Yoga blankets, straps, blocks and bolsters to assist in their class.
