Why fashion and mental health?

May is Mental Health Awaressness Month, and we know that the healthcare industry is riddled with gaps and roadblocks that make getting the support one needs either too expensive, confusing, not culturally comprehsive, or disempowering. Fortunately, there's been a wave of activism and restructuring the overall processes so everyday people can access the life-saving support of therapy (in its multiple forms) and gender-affirming care when they need it .

Fashion, or style really, plays an integral role in how people of the LGBTQIATS+ community express themselves, experience gender euophoria, signal to each other in a room, and recognize allies. It's also important because we dress not only for ourselves but for the workplace, outings and occasssions that make up our lives. We are constantly considerate of how our gender expressions and styles may or may not be welcomed, and to the extent that we care or will engage in challenging the culural norms. Additionally, access to gender or degender fashion and our shopping experiences can range from overwhelming to surprisingly wonderful.
