About this Event
Do you live, work, or recreate on the South, West, and Rhode Rivers? Do you enjoy being on the water (paddle boarding, boating, kayaking, canoeing, or swimming)? Does your walking route bring you to a community dock? Then this is the workshop for you...
Underwater grasses are some of the Chesapeake Bay’s most important resources; they provide habitat, hold sediment in place, soak up excess nutrients, and protect our shorelines.
This workshop is led by Arundel Rivers’ Monitoring Programs Coordinator, a certified underwater grass trainer. During the training, volunteers will learn how to ID common grass species, why data collection is important, how to collect data in their rivers, and different ways to get involved.
No equipment or prior knowledge is necessary to participate! Arundel Rivers will work with you to find the best avenue for volunteering as well as lend out any necessary equipment.
