Arts in Practice Research

Join us in person for Arts in Practice Research, a fantastic event all about exploring education during challenging times. It's a space to connect, share ideas, and dive into creative approaches that make learning resilient and inspiring. Whether you're an educator, artist, or just curious, come along and be part of the conversation!

Co-hosted by UC's Centre of Advanced Studies in Education and Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE). This event is a precursor to the National Forum on education at the National Library of Australia the following day.

This event explores creative wellbeing and arts practices to address the aims of education in challenging times.includes short research and arts practice sessions led by visiting scholars. It also features an extended creative wellbeing session, featuring live music, poetry and visual arts.

This session is open to all academics, HDRs, AARE members and ACT Education teachers.

Presenters:

  • Professor Lisa Kervin (Monash University) is a researcher in the arts and literacy in the early years and was recently an artist in residence as part of the "Bundanon First Nations Ecological Researcher in Residence" program.
  • Associate Professor David Rousell (RMIT) is professor of regenerative visual arts and design, and education futures. David's recent projects have focused on collectively re-imagining cities in response to the onset of climate change, the biodiversity crisis, and ubiquitous technologies at planetary scale.
  • Associate Professor Carol Carter is a Drama Arts lecturer at Curtin University and an Arts Education Practice Research SIG convenor for the AARE.
