Learn how to use the ancient technique of flower pounding to create colorful images on paper! In this workshop, instructor Maureen Straight will discuss the origins of flower pounding, demonstrate the technique, and guide participants in creating vibrantly colored postcards, bookmarks and other prints.
Maureen has worked with flower pounding for about 20 years. She has found that working with flowers is a relaxing stress reliever—as is the “pounding” part!
Bring your own hammer and apron (plant dye is permanent). All other materials will be provided. Feel free to bring your own flowers—the best types are pansies, violas, cosmos, marigolds, rudbeckia, coreopsis, roses (petals) and hydrangeas as well as various leaves (fern, maple, oak, etc.).
