Melanie King and Louise Beer present their practice and the work of super/collider
About this Event

founded in 2006, super/collider is an independent agency that celebrates and champions the connections between science, culture and creativity. working in and with people from the creative industries, we explore science from a pop cultural standpoint – bringing its wonders and wisdom to new audiences through events, expeditions, books and content

Louise Beer uses installation, moving image, photography and sound to explore humanity's evolving understanding of Earth’s environments and the cosmos. Louise creates objects and experiences that reflect the incomprehensible nature of reality, from the ocean floor to the night sky in order to highlight humanity’s infancy of understanding of the cosmos and that we remain in a time where even the implausible is possible.

Melanie King work has a specific focus on astronomy, analogue photography and materiality. Melanie is a working class artist and curator, originally from Manchester, UK. Melanie is now based in Ramsgate, Kent, UK.

Both Melanie and Louise, with Rebecca Huxley, run LUMEN; an art collective, focused on themes of astronomy and light, regularly exhibiting in churches as well as galleries. Through art, exhibitions and seminars we aim to raise a dialogue about how humanity understands existence.
