About this Event
The Bridge is a nonprofit social service agency that provides a comprehensive range of services, including supportive housing and behavioral health treatment, to vulnerable New Yorkers. With over 60 programs in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, The Bridge serves more than 4,200 people annually.
The Arts Institute is a non-clinical program offered to all clients receiving services or housing through The Bridge. The program aims to empower individuals interested in pursuing creative passions, particularly those facing financial or social barriers. We cultivate a supportive community, provide materials, and offer a safe space for artistic exploration and expression, professional practice, and personal growth. By fostering creativity, we aim to enhance well-being and contribute to meaningful recovery journeys. Artists in the program represent a diverse mix of disciplines and experience levels - from established artists to those passionately exploring creative expression for the first time. The Institute also brings in teaching artists and organizes group trips to local art installations and museums. The program produces six curated exhibits at our Harlem gallery each year where artists have the opportunity to connect with the local community and sell their work. The Bridge helps to process art sales and is proud to provide the artists with 100% of the sale price that they set.
Please join us for the opening night of Artopia featuring live performances inclusive of poetry, creative writing, and music. Light snacks will be served.
