About this Event
ArtistLab is a space to experiment with writing, co-creating, and sharing songs, poems, visual art, and other artistic expressions. We gather monthly to discuss the creative process and to experience one another's work in progress. Our primary purpose is cultivating an inclusive, supportive community by centering shared artistic practice.
All are welcome to share their work or simply enjoy the work of other participants!
Our February 21 gathering will feature an interactive workshop on improv acting facilitated by Priscilla Flores and Jade Elle!
Priscilla Flores is a Queer, Latine, New Yorker, actor/writer/director/educator/awakener.
As an "art-vist," I am passionate about community action, marginalized populations, and using performance art to explore social issues, connect bridges, and build networks of healing and collective empowerment. With over 20 years of professional experience in Stage Performance, Theatre in Education, and Social Justice work,
I am deeply committed to addressing youth and
community development through an Applied Theatre approach. In my current position as Director of the
College and Adult Program at the CUNY Creative Arts Team, I develop programming for young people and adult populations across New York City that allow participants
to explore social and academic issues, build their
social and emotional learning skills, and helping support sustainable life skills. Each year, I work to develop and supervise a highly skilled team of teaching artists who provide interactive, participant centered applied theater workshops and residencies for a diverse range of contracts and communities, serving approximately 10,000 participants annually.
Jade Elle is an actress based in New York City. She brings a fresh sense of humor, honesty, and genuineness to the characters she portrays and the stories she shares. Originally from the DMV area, she developed her passion for the arts at a young age and continued on to pursue them more professionally after moving to New York City. She is happiest when she is engaging in a community of fellow creatives, building relationships, and sharing experiences! She is very passionate about forming and maintaining genuine connections with others in the arts. And she is ecstatic about the opportunity to share her artistic passion with the Advent Hope community.
