Join Janie Luster, Tradition Bearer of Louisiana (Houma Nation) in a traditional basket weaving workshop.Learn the basic techniques of weaving the Houma half-hitched weave of palmetto basket weaving. Participants will learn about harvesting the palmetto and how to prepare the palmetto to weave. Everyone will learn the foundations of basket weaving and start a palmetto basket.
All workshops are conducted in a friendly and welcoming environment. All materials are provided. All levels are welcome.
