Dream Academy, in collaboration with Klubb Tarab and SASUSU Radio, are proud to present an artist talk with Kush Arora / Only Now at Brokken Records, Storgata 78.

Kush Arora / Only Now will sit down to discuss navigating his music career over the past decades and retaining a spiritual, ideological, and sonic vision that works as a daily practice for him. In addition, his views on not compromising or bending to trends within the electronic and cultural music communities, whilst simultaneously finding employment and adjacent roles within the music industry to not corrode his art. Some fun topics will include the waves of South Asian music booms between the 90s to now from a western lens, being an outsider within his own Indian community and hacking his way to true sonic freedom across polarizing and often opposite scenes and ideologies.

Only Now is the alias of Indo-Californian producer Kush Arora. Fusing deconstructed Punjabi music with industrial, dancehall, and noise, Only Now is an unbridled expression of Arora’s eclectic influences, his Indian heritage, and his long-standing activity within the Bay Area underground since the 90’s. A project that takes experimental electronics, soundsystem music and traditional Indian music somewhere they’ve never been before, Only Now summons an exceptional, unparalleled soundworld.
As Only Now and under his own name, Kush Arora has released a string of acclaimed self-released projects alongside output on Bokeh Versions, Infinite Machine, Discrepant, Polaar, Dutty Artz and Tash LC’s Club Yeke label. Arora’s work has been featured on The BBC, The Wire, Quietus, Guardian, Fact, Resident Advisor, and Bandcamp.
