Artist Nic Nicosia speaks with Nasher Chief Curator Jed Morse about his newly opened exhibition, which shines new light on the surprising second half of the noted artist’s five-decade career, tracking an evolution towards sculpture. Nic Nicosia: Everyday Surreal highlights the shift in the artist’s work over the past two decades, marked by a move away from elaborate sets, casts, and crews to a solitary studio practice focused on the production of a broad range of sculptures, drawings, and photographs. While maintaining a buoyant whimsy, Nicosia’s work became more inquisitive and philosophical, exploring themes of time, memory, and the psychological edges of everyday reality.Registration is FREE for Nasher Members and students; $10 for non-members (includes museum admission). Advance registration required. Limited seating is available and will be managed on a first-come, first-served basis among event registrants.
