Join poet Joan Kantor for a unique Artist Talk celebrating the intersection of the visual and the verbal—where paintings become poems, and poems, in turn, illuminate the art. Related to the special exhibition "Joe Fig: Contemplating Vermeer," this talk will focus on the creation of ekphrastic poetry—a type of poetry that vividly describes or responds to a work of visual art. This talk and poetry reading will feature word art inspired by Vermeer, Van Gogh, and works from the New Britain Museum of American Art’s permanent collection.
