Clare Radigan documents the times we live in, putting into visual language the things that people feel. One of her biggest artistic challenges is deciding what her next work will be. She has to have an idea to start with. In this free gallery talk, the "Surreal Worlds" exhibiting artist will take the audience through her stages of creating a piece of art. She hopes this will inspire people with her creative process, so they can move forward with whatever project they are tackling-whether it’s visual art or writing or designing something.
In Clare’s words, “The ideas are everywhere, in front of my eyes and brain. The brain extracts a story from sight, sound and texture. It can be something as common as a cool, damp forest floor covered in layers of rotting leaves, decomposing branches, bugs and microbes. I hear but don’t see the sound of a cool stream. This might lead to another thought—how hot the parking lot will be when I emerge from the forest. A composite image may form in my head of combining these three things, and then I have my idea for a painting.”
