About this Event

Learn best practices for photographing your artwork to create high-quality digital images. We will demonstrate proper lighting and staging techniques, as well as digital camera advice.

OPTIONAL: Bring your pieces that are no larger than 24" x 30" to the session and receive expert guidance from Richmond Media Lab staff on lighting, composition, and digital photography techniques.

Free workshop, limited spaces. Registration required*
For ages 18+.

*As with many free events, we experience a LOT of no-shows from those who register. Please join the waitlist and we will release more tickets as they come available or contact you if someone cancels.

About the Presenter:
Alisha Weng is a multidisciplinary artist based on the traditional, unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations. Working primarily in photography and digital media, her practice explores themes of cultural, identity, and documentation photography. Alisha works at the Richmond Media Lab as an instructor and Youth Outreach Worker.

Located within the Richmond Cultural Centre Annex, the Richmond Media Lab is a safe, accessible hub to explore and cultivate media arts skills that support personal and professional development. The space is well-equipped with computers, cameras and many types of digital equipment and software to offer seasonal programs in animation, digital illustration, video editing, 3D printing and more. Throughout the year, Richmond Media Lab offers classes and workshops in the digital arts on topics such as animation, illustration, 3D printing, photography, and digital crafting for various ages.


About Artist Salon at Richmond Art Gallery:

The features art professionals leading inspirational artist talks and professional development for visual artists each month from February to November. Programs are either live-streamed via the Zoom platform or hosted in person. Past livestreams may be viewed as videos on the video page.
