Join Pilchuck Glass School in our Seattle Studio for a special presentation from local artists, Dan Friday and Delbert Miller. Dan Friday and Delbert Miller will discuss their collaborative work at Pilchuck Glass School as well as their current projects, including Dan Friday’s installation at the Seattle Aquarium. This event is part of a series of First Thursday events that highlight the artists that make the Pacific Northwest, and Pilchuck Glass School in particular, the place where the glass world comes together.

About Dan Friday

(American | Lummi Nation, born 1975)

Dan Friday (Lummi) is a Seattle-based glass artist. The themes and images of Friday’s work are often drawn from his Coast Salish heritage and are solidified in the world of glass art.

Friday studied at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Northwestern Washington, and at South Seattle Community College. He has spent the last twenty-five years creating his own work, and also working with artists such as Dale Chihuly, Paul Marioni, and Preston Singletary. He has taught at the University of Washington, Pilchuck Glass School, and the Haystack Craft Center in Maine. He is a member of the Lummi Nation.

About Delbert Miller:

Delbert Sm3tcoom Miller is an artist, culture bearer and spiritual leader of the Skokomish Tribe. A carver, drummer, singer and composer, Delbert’s work is reflective of the history and ancestral knowledge of his Tuwaduq people. A Cultural Coordinator for his tribe, Delbert utilizes ancestral knowledge, oral traditions and teachings in a variety of capacities, including in the areas of cultural preservation, language development and reclamation of traditional village sites. Winner of the Potlatch Fund’s Fran James Cultural Preservation Award, and the Washington State Arts Commission Artist Fellowship, Delbert has committed his life to the arts and culture of his people.
