The Denver Public Art Team and the Art Students League of Denver will host an information session for artists interested in applying to two upcoming public art projects in the Westwood neighborhood in Denver on August 12, 6-7:30 p.m in Westwood (location TBD), OR online via Zoom. The meeting will cover project backgrounds, goals, and the application process for the two recently published Requests for Qualifications – the Westwood Recreation Center, and Morrison Road Plazas. Attendees will receive information about how to apply to the projects through callforentry.org (CafE), and have a chance to ask the project managers questions regarding the process during a Q+A session. Attend to learn more, ask questions, and determine if you’d like to apply for two exciting new public art projects in the Westwood neighborhood.
There will be food and drinks provided for all who attend in person. Kids are welcome. Spanish translation will be provided.
Attendees may attend the meeting online, or in person.

Morrison Road Plazas
Budget: Approximately $100,000 USD for each of two locations ($200,000 total)
Eligibility: Open to artists or artist teams residing in the United States
Two artists or artist teams will be selected to create outdoor public artwork at two pedestrian plazas along Morrison Road (one at Newton Street and one at West Custer Place). These artworks should enhance the cultural vibrancy of the neighborhood.
Funding for the south plaza at West Custer Place comes from the City and County of Denver’s ordinance allocating 1% of the Morrison Road Improvement Project construction budget for the creation of new public art. Art Students League of Denver is funding the artwork at the north plaza at Newton Street through a National Endowment for the Arts “Our Town” grant.
Interested artists may submit qualifications through Monday, Aug. 19, 11:59 p.m. MST.
Westwood Recreation Center
Budget: Approximately $250,000 USD
Eligibility: Open to artists or artist teams residing in the United States
Artwork should celebrate the culture and people of the Westwood neighborhood and welcome and enhance the experience of those visiting the recreation center.
Interested artists may submit qualifications through Monday, Aug. 19, 11:59 p.m. MST.

La financiación de la plaza sur de West Custer Place procede de la ordenanza de la ciudad y el condado de Denver por la que se asigna el 1% del presupuesto de construcción del proyecto de mejora de Morrison Road a la creación de nuevas obras de arte público.
