Rune Bo Jakobsen (b. 1975)Artist & Architect
Danish artist and architect Rune Bo Jakobsen is an internationally exhibited multidisciplinary creative whose work bridges fine art, sculpture, and architecture. Trained in Italy at the Istituto Statale d’Arte di Orvieto and later completing his Master’s Degree in Architecture in Denmark, he has developed a distinctive style shaped by Mediterranean light and Nordic spatial sensibility.
His paintings explore the emotional presence of space, revealing colour within shadow and capturing atmosphere through expressive brushwork and nuanced tonal shifts. This exhibition focuses on Valletta, Malta’s UNESCO World Heritage capital, where Jakobsen distils the city’s luminous facades and vibrant street life into poetic studies of light and lived experience.
Alongside painting, he is widely recognised for public sculptures, including the stainless steel Olive Twist in Żejtun, the seven-metre paper boat Hope at the Valletta Waterfront, and the bronze Embryonic Horse in Floriana near Argotti Gardens, addressing themes of nature and environmental responsibility.
Jakobsen’s works feature in private and public collections internationally. Based in Central Malta, he continues to explore the intersection of art, architecture, and public space.
