Join Painter Dylan Valade, our Artist-in-Residence, for "The Palette of Memory: Memorize Anything at the Grand Hotel�." In this interactive painting demonstration and lecture Valade will explore the ancient mnemonic device of the "Memory Palace," applied to Mackinac Island’s most iconic structure. Valade will demonstrate how he uses the architecture of the Grand Hotel to organize and recall history and personal stories, while creating a live painting that captures the visual essence of Mackinac.
ABOUT THE ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAM:
The Mackinac State Historic Parks Artist-In-Residence Program is designed to promote and encourage the creation of artistic works inspired by the history, natural wonders, and beauty of Mackinac Island. The residencies are available to artists in all mediums, including writers, composers, sculptures, and visual artists including photographers, among others. #thisismackinac
