Artist in residence - Lost and Found: Bricolage Workshop

Join artist Ashley Deyo in transforming found and disused objects through the art of bricolage.
About this Event

Join us for a 2 hour creative adventure dedicated to practicing bricolage- a french term referring to the creative act of assembling existing elements to form something new and meaningful.

During this workshop you will be gently guided to be playful and uninhibited in your creativity. What would you want to create and how can we create it from the items on hand? How can we reimagine and transform the disused/found objects into something that is meaningful or purposeful to us? Additionally, you will be invited to question and discuss the value we place on certain objects over others and the concepts of “throw away culture.”

In line with sustainable practices, this workshop uses recycled and repurposed materials wherever possible. Participants are encouraged to bring in their own disused or found items, but it is not mandatory. There will be spare objects available to transform as well as a variety of tools and materials, including but not limited to adhesives, cardboard, cutting tools, paints, and wire, etc.

Please dress for mess and safety and feel free to bring along a cuppa (or two!).

Secure your place in this unique creative experience and join us on an artistic journey of discovery and experimentation. Book now and get ready to uncover the hidden potential in the lost and found!

This workshop is for adults.

About the artist

Ashley Deyo is an experimental artist creating abstract art that draws from architecture, ideas of belonging, and the meanings we attach to objects and space.

Sustainability sits at the core of their practice. They often work with whatever materials are at hand, transforming salvaged and secondhand objects into new forms.

The built environment captivates them—particularly how structures, nature, and society interweave. Through their work, Ashley examines the intricate connections between people, places, and perspective, highlighting how each person sees the world differently.

This workshop is part of a public engagment programme for our artist resident scheme which means the ticket price covers only the materials. If you are able and wish to we have an option to donate to Jelly.
