Born in Slough, Gemma had a city life growing up, but like many people would enjoy annual holidays in Cornwall. As Cornwall captured her heart she was able to move to Cornwall as an adult and began her art journey.Well known for her aerial seascapes her work is striking and easily recognisable. She uses texture and colour in an expressive way to capture the movement and emotion of the sea. Painting on whatever she can get her hands on the structure and beauty of her work keeps you exploring all elements of her paintings.
I was fortunate enough to meet her recently at Boardmasters where she had a stall at Fistral and was busy painting a surfboard!
She's also a very successful business woman collaborating with many brands to create enjoyable and unique combos, including recycled surfboards, glasses and wearable art. She also encourages others to join in and create art, running workshops and offering mentoring to those who also want to build their art business.
