About this Event
Welcome to the Artificial Intelligence in Health Research Network Hui - Wellington
Background:
In 2023 the Prime Minister’s Chief Science Advisor’s (PM CSA) AI in Health Report highlighted the urgent need for AI digital tools in the New Zealand Health sector. A key recommendation from this report was the establishment of a national network or centre for AI research with a specific focus on health.
Responding to this call, a University of Auckland team has been engaging with key stakeholders in government and the health sector to help kickstart this Research Network and has garnered support from the Ministry of Health, Te Whatu Ora, MedTech-iQ, industry partners and academics across the motu. You can find out more about the network here: https://www.ai-health-research.org.nz/
The University of Auckland held an event to introduce the new network to Auckland colleagues in November last year, and we are now inviting Wellington colleagues to a similar event here at Victoria University of Wellington.
About this event
Members of the Network establishment team will provide an update on the initial work to establish the Network, internal and external stakeholder engagement and proposed focus of the network. This will be an interactive, in-person session with an opportunity for you to ask questions and share your experience, as well as contribute to the ‘next steps’ discussion.
In addition, Professor Robyn Whittaker (chair of the National AI and Algorithm Expert Advisory Group for Te Whatu Ora and member of the PMCSA Panel) will provide an update on AI within the New Zealand health sector and current priorities for research.
This in-person workshop is open to research staff at the University with an interest in AI in health research and being a part of this Network. We invite you to come along and hear about this emerging area of research and join us as we build this nationwide Network.
